Frequently Asked Questions

Faith-Based Tutoring K-12

How long is each tutoring session?

Each tutoring session typically lasts 60 to 75 minutes, depending on the student's age, needs, and ability to focus effectively.

Our goal is to ensure each child receives focused academic instruction along with intentional spiritual encouragement every time they meet with their tutor.

2

Is there discipleship included in the tutoring sessions?

At RMLA, every tutoring session includes a dedicated 20–30 minutes of discipleship time (depending on the student's age).

During this time, your child’s tutor will:

  • Pour into them spiritually

  • Teach them about Jesus

  • Encourage them through Scripture and prayer

  • Help them grow in their faith and identity in Christ

We believe that true education includes spiritual growth, not just academics.
Our tutoring sessions are designed to nurture the whole child—mind, heart, and spirit.

3

What is the focus of RMLA's tutoring sessions?

Our tutoring sessions are focused on building a solid academic foundation for long-term success—not just quick homework help.

We work intentionally with each student to:

  • Identify gaps in understanding

  • Strengthen weak areas

  • Solidify key concepts

  • Build confidence and mastery in the subject

We believe in building true understanding, not placing a temporary "band-aid" over academic struggles.

4

Do you help with homework?

While we occasionally review homework to monitor a student's understanding, our primary focus is not homework assistance.

Our tutoring sessions are designed to strengthen core knowledge and close learning gaps so that students can independently succeed in homework and classwork over time.

5

How do you know what my child needs help with?

Every student who enrolls in tutoring at RMLA will take an assessment test in the subject area(s) they need support in.

This allows us to:

  • Accurately diagnose gaps in knowledge

  • Understand their current level

  • Create a customized learning plan tailored to their needs

6

Do you use a specific curriculum during tutoring?

Yes! After completing the assessment, we recommend specific curriculum resources or workbooks that best fit your child's learning style and academic goals.
Families are asked to purchase the recommended curriculum or materials based on our guidance so that we can have consistent, structured sessions and measurable progress.

7

Do you offer tutoring for students with learning differences?

Yes! Because we specialize in individualized learning, we gladly work with students of all learning styles, including students with diagnosed learning differences.

We adapt our sessions to support each student's growth at their own pace while speaking life, encouragement, and prayer over their journey.

8

What makes RMLA’s tutoring different from other tutoring services?

At RMLA:

  • We focus on long-term academic success—not quick fixes.

  • We prioritize understanding over memorization.

  • We integrate faith, encouragement, and prayer into every session.

  • We create customized learning plans based on each child's real needs—not a one-size-fits-all model.

  • We walk alongside families as partners in education and spiritual development.

Faith-Based Homeschooling Support

What grades does Remote Learning Academy serve?

Remote Learning Academy serves students from Kindergarten through 12th grade through our online, faith-based homeschooling programs.

2

Do I need accreditation to homeschool?

Students meet live online three days a week (Monday–Wednesday) for:

Group prayer and Bible study

Core subject instruction (reading, writing, math, science, social studies)

Thursday and Friday are reserved for independent work at home, enrichment activities, tutoring, or additional support (if enrolled in Extended Learning Support).

3

Is Remote Learning Academy a full curriculum?

  •

  • RMLA provides live teaching, lesson guidance, assignments, and grading—but families are still responsible for purchasing curriculum materials based on our recommendations.

  • We help you select the best curriculum for your child’s learning style and academic goals.

4

Do you provide report cards or transcripts?

Yes! We provide grades, academic feedback, and progress tracking for students enrolled in full-time and part-time programs.

For high school students, we assist families in compiling parent-issued transcripts to meet graduation and college admissions requirements.

5

How do you handle homeschooling requirements for different states?

We partner with each family to:

  • Review your state's homeschool laws

  • Ensure your child’s education meets or exceeds legal requirements

  • Support your record-keeping, evaluations, or testing (if needed)

RMLA is also a member of HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association) and uses their expertise to verify compliance with current homeschool regulations.

6

What is HSLDA?

HSLDA stands for the Home School Legal Defense Association.

HSLDA is a trusted national organization that advocates for the rights of homeschooling families across the United States. Since 1983, HSLDA has provided legal protection, resources, and support to homeschooling parents, ensuring they can teach their children freely without unnecessary government interference.

By being a member of HSLDA, families receive:

  • Legal support and defense if challenges arise regarding their right to homeschool

  • Guidance on state homeschool laws and requirements

  • Templates and tools for record-keeping, transcripts, diplomas, and more

  • Access to educational consultants who offer advice on curriculum, special needs, high school planning, and college preparation

  • Peace of mind, knowing they are backed by a team of experienced homeschool attorneys.

At Remote Learning Academy, we maintain a membership with HSLDA and use their expertise to stay updated on legal requirements and best practices for homeschooling families nationwide.
We also recommend that all families who homeschool enroll in HSLDA for their own protection, encouragement, and peace of mind.

7

What is accreditation?

Accreditation is a process where a school voluntarily seeks approval from an accrediting organization to ensure it meets certain educational and operational standards.

It is typically designed for traditional public and private schools, not for homeschools.

Accreditation is not required for homeschool programs because, under U.S. law, the parent is recognized as the school authority in homeschooling.

8

Can homeschooling be accredited?

Homeschooling itself does not need accreditation to be valid or recognized.

In all 50 U.S. states, parents have the legal right to homeschool their children without using an accredited program.

Some private umbrella schools or programs offer "accredited" homeschool options, but these are not legally necessary for your child's graduation, college admission, military service, or career pathways.

Parent-issued diplomas and transcripts are fully accepted nationwide when homeschooling is done in accordance with your state’s laws.

9

Is RMLA accredited?

No.Remote Learning Academy is a faith-based educational support program, not an accredited private school.

Because we operate in partnership with parents who are homeschooling independently, accreditation is not required or necessary.

Instead of pursuing secular accreditation, RMLA focuses on:

Academic excellence rooted in Biblical truth

Personalized learning that meets or exceeds educational standards

Spiritual growth and discipleship integrated into every part of the student's education

We also assist families in creating strong academic records, progress reports, and high school transcripts that meet homeschool requirements across the United States.

10

What makes RMLA different from other online programs or co-ops?

  • Daily prayer, Bible study, and faith-based instruction built into every day

  • Individualized learning tailored to each child's pace and strengths

  • Small class sizes that prioritize real relationships and community

  • Spirit-filled environment that nurtures both academic success and spiritual growth

  • Affordable pricing compared to private Christian schools and hybrid programs

  • At RMLA, your child is not just a number—they are a disciple being trained to walk in wisdom, excellence, and purpose.

11

Do you accept students with special needs or learning differences?

Yes! We believe every child deserves a chance to succeed. We do not charge extra for students with special learning needs.

We work closely with parents to:

  • Follow IEPs (where applicable)

  • Adapt lessons and pacing

  • Support both academic and spiritual growth

We see the child first, not the diagnosis—and believe every student can grow with prayer, patience, and individualized instruction.
